Holy Spirit Baptism For Me? No!
The baptism with the Holy Spirit was NOT promised to every Christian. It was promised to the apostles for a special purpose. Speaking to "the apostles whom he had chosen" (Acts 1:2), he "commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, Which, He said, you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." vv. 4,5, nasb. WHO was promised it? "The apostles whom he had chosen." WHERE were they to receive it? In "Jerusalem." WHEN were they to receive it? "Not many days from now" (c. A.D. 30). WHY were they to receive it? "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be My witnesses." v. 8. The baptism with the Holy Spirit was promised to the apostles for the special purpose of equipping them with "power" to reveal and confirm the gospel of the risen King, Jesus Christ! When anyONE else (WHO) claims to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit anyWHERE else (WHERE) at any other TIME (WHEN) for any OTHER REASON (WHY), know their claim is invalid! Holy Spirit baptism was NOT promised to us.
